Baby Monkey Crochet Free Pattern Amigurumi

This week has been MONKEY crazy!  If that even exists, lol, but well, it has been a very busy week for me, thank God!  I have to make this little monkey for a baby and I want to share it with you.  I don’t have pictures of the process, sorry!  But I worked on it while I was moving around, remember my crazy monkey week?

It is 7 inches long approximately and it is made in rounds.  It is a simple patter, we only use single crochet in it, thus it is perfect if this is your first time making this style of amigurumi.

I hope you like this patter and if you do make it, I would love to see it.  Please tag me in your Instagram and Facebook posts @juliefruuu #juliefruuu and leave me your comments!

If you want this pattern in pdf, in a printable format which includes a graphic pattern of the panels that need to be made to create this amigurumi, you can find it in my Etsy Shop.

Materials:

  • Lily Sugar ‘N Cream Cotton thread (worsted) colors brown and jute

  • 4.50 mm hook.

  • Black felt for the nose and eyes.

  • White acrylic paint

  • Poly Fil fyber fill

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors

  • Hot glue

  • Optional: If you want to add the heart with the embroidered initials, you will need felt, thread and embroidery needle in the color you want to use.

I will use the following abbreviations:

Sc single crochet

Inc Increase: make two sc in one stitch.

Dec Decrease:  create one sc or dc from two.

Ch Chain

When you see something between asterisks **, followed by an “x#” this means you should repeat what is between the asterisks the number of times mentioned.  For example, *1 sc + 1 inc* x 6 means that you must make 1 single crochet in one stitch and one increase in the following stitch and repeat this 6 times.

At the end of each row you will see a number between parenthesis, this number represents the number of stitches with which you should finish each row.

For example, if you see (12) this means that when you finish making what the instruction states on that row you should count 12 stitches.

Let’s start crocheting!

Armado

We sow all the pieces in their place.  Cut out two black felt circles and a black felt oval for the nose and we glue them in place with hot glue.  With the help of a toothpick, color a white dot in each eye and your little monkey is ready!

Optional

If you wish to add the patch with the baby’s initials, cut out a felt heart in your preferred color and embroider the initials with a contrasting or a darker color than that used. When ready, sew it in the baby monkey’s tummy.

If you what to make a bigger one, try making this same pattern with using Bernard Baby Blanket Yarn and a 9mm hook.
