Pitbull Keychain Crochet Free Pattern Amigurumi

The owner of a handsome puppy, who is fighting against cancer, requested that I make keychains inspired on her baby, to give to those who have helped them with their battle. (beautiful token of appreciation, right?) This was the result and I wanted to share the pattern whit with you!

Materials

I will use the following abbreviations in this pattern:

Sc single crochet
Sl St Slip stitch
Inc Increase: making 2 sc or dc in one stitch
Dec Decrease: create one sc or dc from two
Ch Chain

When you see something between asterisks **, followed by an “x #” this means you should repeat what is between the asterisks the number of times mentioned.  For example, *1 sc + 1 inc* x 6 means that you must make 1 single crochet in one stitch and one increase in the following stitch and repeat this 6 times.

At the end of each row you will see a number between parenthesis, this number represents the number of stitches with which you should finish each row.

For example, if you see (12) this means that when you finish making what the instruction states on that row you should count 12 stitches.

So, let’s start crocheting!

Pitbull Keychain Amigurumi Free Pattern

Head (light brown and white)

Magic ring, make 6 sc (6)
1. 6 inc (12)
2. *1 sc + 1 inc* x 6 (18)
3. *2 sc + 1 inc* x 6 (24)
4. 24 sc (24)

From row 6 to 9, there are 24 sc, so for these rows I am going to detail the color of each stitch with B for the ones with the color white and C for the ones with the color light brown.  If you want to make your dog all only one color, just make the 24 sc in the color you’ve selected.

When you change colors, insert the hook to make the last stitch of Color A and lift a loop. Then, with Color B, complete the stitch by pulling both loops with Color B. Drop your Color A thread and continue with Color B.

6-9. 1C, 2B, 21C (24), place safety eyes between rows 7 and 8, leaving 4 spaces between each one.  Stuff partially.
10. *2 sc + 1 dec* x 6 (18), making only the first decrease in the two white stitches of the previous row with the color white.  Work with light brown the rest of the stitches.
11. *1 sc + 1 dec* x 6 (12), stuff firmly.
12. 6 dec (6), close and weave the end.

Ears (light brown, make 2)

1. Make 2 ch, starting in 2nd ch from hook make 1 sc, (1), turn
2. 1 inc (2), ch, turn
3. 1 sc, 1 inc (3), ch, turn
4. 2 sc, 1 inc (4), ch, turn
5. 4 sc (4), ch, turn
6. 2 sc, 2 sl st, close and leave long tail to sew to the head.

Upper Snout (light brown and white)

1. With C make 4 ch, starting in 2nd ch from hook make 1 sc, 1 sc, 3 sc in the last ch, continue on the other side with 1 sc and 2 sc in the last ch, change to white. (8)

*For these rows I am going to detail the color of each stitch with B for the ones with the color white and C for the ones with the color light brown.
2. B2 sc, C1 sc, C1 inc, C1 sc, C1 inc, C1 sc, C1 inc, C1 sc (12), change to B.
3. B2 sc, C10 sc (12), change to B.
4. B3 sc, C9 sc (12), close and leave tail to sow to the body.

Lower Snout (light brown)

1. Magic ring, 6 sc (6)
2. 6 sc (6), close and leave tail to sow.

Tongue (pink)

1. Make 3 ch, starting in 2nd ch from hook make 2 sc (2) ch, turn
2-3. 2 sc (2), ch, turn
4. 1 dec (1), close and weave the end.

Let’s put it together!

With pins, place the ears and upper snout in position following the pictures, sow the ears and sow the snout filling it on the way before sowing it completely to the head.  I glued the tongue and the lower part of the snout, but if you want you can sew them also.

To provide more details I painted with pink eyeshadow inside the ears and with a bit of dark eyeshadow, the snout and near the eyes.  Now, the only thing we need to add is the chain to turn it into a beautiful keychain!
