Carrot Bag · Fee Crochet Pattern

Materials

Instructions

Abbreviations used in my patterns:

Sc Single crochet

Sl St Slip Stitch

Hdc Half double crochet

Dc Double crochet

Tc Triple crochet

Inc Increase: making 2 sc or dc in one stitch

Dec Decrease: create one sc or dc from two

Sk Skip a stitch and work in the next stitch

At the end of each row or round, you will see a number in parentheses; this number represents the number of stitches you should have at the end of each row or round. For example, if you see (12), it means that after completing the instructions for that row or round, you should count 12 stitches.

Let's get crocheting!

Carrot Bag

Bag

*We're going to work this bag with double crochet stitches in rows, meaning that at the end of each row, we'll have to join with a slip stitch to the first stitch and make 2 chain stitches to start the next row.

  1. With orange, magic ring, 10 dc (10)

  2. 1 dc + 1 inc repeat 5 times (15)

  3. 2 dc + 1 inc repeat 5 times (20)

  4. 3 dc + 1 inc repeat 5 times (25)

  5. 4 dc + 1 inc repeat 5 times (30)

  6. 1 dc + 1 inc repeat 5 times (35) 7-14. 35 dc (35), at the end of row 14, join with a slip stitch and make only 1 chain stitch to continue with row 15.

  7. *2 sc, ch, skip, 2 sc, ch, skip, 2 sc... until the end of the row with 2 sc. (35) Change to green. 16-18. 35 dc (35), at the end of row 18, join with a slip stitch and make only 1 chain stitch to continue with row 19.

  8. sc, hdc+dc, inc tr, dc+hdc, sl st repeat 7 times, fasten off and weave in the ending yarn tail.

Cord

With green, make 51 ch, turn from the second chain from the hook with slip stitches back to the start, fasten off and leave a tail to join the ends.

*You can make the cord as long as you want by increasing the number of chains, so you can make it like a little purse too.

Assembly

With the help of a yarn needle, pass the cord alternating over and under through the spaces left in row 15, inserting the needle from outside to inside between the first and last 2 sc. Sew the ends of the cord together and you're done!
